Leadership of NASEF Selected to Present at Prestigious Education Summit ASU GSV on Esports, The New Revolution in Learning and Workforce

Leaders of the North America Scholastic Esports Federation (NASEF) are presenting at the annual ASU GSV Summit on April 10, 2019, helping education and technology leaders understand how esports are creating a revolution in learning and workforce development.

The session will be held Wednesday, April 10, from 2:45 p.m. – 3:45 p.m. in the Manchester Grand Hyatt “Harbor A” room. A workshop will follow for individuals interested in implementing NASEF’s free esports clubs and curriculum in their region.

The esteemed panel will discuss the revolutionary possibilities for K12 esports to democratize gaming, bringing women and people of color equal access, instilling core values of equity AND changing the paradigm of STEM learning with strong outcomes and engaged students.

UC Irvine, the first public research university to launch an esports arena and student-athlete sports scholarships, is leading academic research on the impact of esports at the middle school, high school and college level. Constance Steinkuehler Squire researches cognitive and social aspects of video games and gaming. She is also leading the development of middle and high school esports curriculum with support funding from the Samueli and Emerald Foundations led by Gerald Solomon and Joe Besecker.

ASU GSV panelists include Constance Steinkuehler Squire, Professor of Informatics, University of California, Irvine; Daniel Wehrenfennig, Executive Director, Olive Tree Initiative, University of California, Irvine; Gerald Solomon, Executive Director, Samueli Foundation; Terry Kraft, Chief Esports Strategist at Emerald Foundation and Founder & CEO at The Pivotal Group LLC. The moderator is Joe Besecker, Founder, Chairman, President and CEO, Emerald Asset Management.

Started in 2010 with a collaboration between Arizona State University and Global Silicon Valley (GSV), the annual ASU GSV Summit is the industry catalyst for elevating dialogue and driving action around raising learning and career outcomes through scaled innovation. Presenters are carefully selected for their ability to raise the topics and issues that, through education, will shape our society in the coming years.

Attendees at the ASU GSV Summit will include CEOs, investors, school, district and university leaders, media, enterprise learning and talent leaders, politicians, foundation leaders and policy makers.

The North America Scholastic Esports Federation is working to ensure that ALL students possess the knowledge and skills needed to be society’s game changers: educated, productive, and empathetic individuals.
