Bangladesh and NASEF: A Diversified Initiative in the Esports World to Promote Education and Competition

Nov 01, 2023

A new NASEF affiliate, Electronics Sports Bangladesh (Esports BD), has been formed to launch a scholastic esports program in Bangladesh. NASEF's global network will coordinate the activities of Electronics Sports Bangladesh (Esports BD) to take esports forward, as well as provide meaningful education on life skills and facilitate gaming interests.

Esports has been growing significantly in Bangladesh over the past few years, and Bangladeshi students are now interested in not only playing the game but also pursuing various related careers. To support this strong interest in competition and education, Electronics Sports Bangladesh (Esports BD) has recently become affiliated with NASEF. NASEF is a global NGO that provides a framework and support for educators around the world, creating programs that connect students' love of video games and esports with professional careers, while also developing important personal "soft skills" that are part of today's workforce.

NASEF facilitates a wide student interest in team-based competitive video gaming, providing top game tournaments as well as meaningful career and STEAM education. Students learn about potential career paths, participate in Beyond the Game's creative and analytical challenges, manage and fundraise clubs and events, and compete in tournaments for FIFA, e-football, Rocket League, Valorant, Dota, Minecraft, and other popular titles.

The vision of Electronics Sports Bangladesh (Esports BD) is to develop and encourage competitive esports programs in Bangladesh middle schools and high schools along with academic education, providing support, organizing tournaments, and presenting information to educational institution authorities.

NASEF is supporting similar institutions worldwide and sharing its diverse experiences in building educational and career pathways worldwide. As a non-profit, NASEF focuses on the impact of youth power, emphasizing the development of talent among all students (especially those from underserved populations). Through its various partnerships, NASEF helps students open college scholarships and career paths in the gaming industry around the world.

"The effectiveness of esports as a tool for meaningful STEAM and social-emotional learning has been demonstrated through research," said NASEF Founder and Executive Director Gerald Solomon. "We are thrilled to welcome Electronics Sports Bangladesh (Esports BD) to the NASEF family, where coaches will be able to learn best practices from scholastic esports programs around the world. We are excited to support Electronics Sports Bangladesh (Esports BD) and watch its growth across Bangladesh in the coming years.

You can learn more details about these activities on the NASEF website or the Electronics Sports Bangladesh (Esports BD) website. Educational institutions from all over Bangladesh are invited to join Electronics Sports Bangladesh (Esports BD) and NASEF and their events and programs.
