(Newport Beach, CA – February 19, 2020) -

This week on the main stage at DreamHack Anaheim, the North America Scholastic Esports Federation (NASEF) presents the 2020 Chel Invitational, an exciting competition for scholarships, school grants, and team prizes totaling more than $50,000. Players in this NHL20 event qualified in regional matches hosted by NASEF and the Anaheim Ducks, LA Kings, Vegas Golden Knights and Florida Panthers. Local youth and adult winners receive a trip to Southern California to compete in the live finals event on Saturday, February 22.

At Youth Day on Friday, February 21, high school rival teams will get the thrill of competing on-stage in League of Legends and Overwatch in the DreamHack Anaheim Scholastic Esports Invitational. They are also proud to demonstrate their creativity and skills by sharing samples of individual and club work that may be foundations for their eventual careers in the esports ecosystem.

“NASEF’s scholastic esports platform draws meaningful connections between students’ love of gaming and important life and job skills,” said Mark Deppe, commissioner of NASEF. “Whether competing, attending, or watching the stream from a distance, students joining us at DreamHack Anaheim will experience the excitement of a live tournament and see a variety of career possibilities in the esports world.”

In addition to the tournaments hosted on-stage, NASEF will be in booth #507, giving all DreamHack attendees a chance to learn about esports scholarship opportunities, see what it’s like to be a shoutcaster, create fandom art, and more. The championship matches and many other activities will be streamed throughout the weekend at twitch.tv/nasefedu.

NASEF leverages relationships with many partners to benefit students. Whether organizing scholastic tournaments with companies like Riot Games and Blizzard Entertainment, giving students insight into careers with Twitch, or working with the Anaheim Ducks and other NHL teams to demonstrate professional sports opportunities, NASEF combines the fun and challenge of tournaments with practical learning about career options.
