Supporting the Development of High Quality Scholastic and Academic Esports

NASEF empowers students to explore the ecosystem of esports by combining the concepts of play and immersive experiential learning to lead to STEAM-based skills Esports is an activity that energizes and excites them. Moreover, while some students are directed at honing their skills to earn scholarships on collegiate or professional esports teams, others seek opportunities supporting a team’s success – as content creators, strategists, organizers or innovators and entrepreneurs. Esports is simply put…the next generation of competitive engagement and learning, if done correctly, with a focus on inclusivity and equity, can profoundly impact individuals, communities and entire societies. (NASEF), which develops esports clubs in all facets of adolescent and young adult life, has demonstrated a successful sustainable methodology to achieve these objectives And such success has been well documented and confirmed through IRB reviewed assessments and evaluations by one of the world’s leading educational institutions, the University of California.
The Scholastic Esports Standards herein provides a structured framework outlining the various components of what a successful high-quality high impact scholastic program should provide, The framework is designed to support educational systems, in and out of school, involving all stakeholders, in how to achieve the highest level of capacity, competency and impact to meet the goal and objective defining “what a high quality esports program” can and should be. And when successful, it demonstrates and provides the pathway for individual, community and cultural achievement that creates true opportunity and impact benefiting ALL. Self-Assessment Tool (BETA)
Thanks to a grant provided by the International Esports Federation and Busan Metropolitan City, we are now actively piloting the implementation of our self-assessment tool.
This form assesses an existing or potential scholastic esports program in terms of the eight (8) areas of esports standards and practices as defined and promoted by NASEF. After completing ALL sections, a General Manager / Site Administrator will know how a program maps/ aligns to NASEF standards, and what steps can be taken to enrich and further develop efforts to enhance student engagement in college and career readiness, STEM-based leadership activities as well as in esports competitions.
