NASEF Scholastic Mentor
J.D. Williams is a Technology Instructional Coach in the Laveen Elementary School District. Last year he started a middle school esports team that competed against other middle schools throughout the country. He is also looking to expand esports for elementary and middle school students within Arizona.
What are your strengths and unique aspirations as a NASEF Scholastic Mentor?
I am currently an Instructional Coach and have been trained in Cognitive Coaching, which is a coaching model that uses conversations to help facilitate teachers to become self-directed. I have experience running coaching and professional learning cycles with staff.
What do you hope to accomplish for your professional development by becoming a Scholastic Mentor?
I want to help grow esports in middle schools so that students are able to be prepared to participate in high school esports. I also want to continue to build students capacity in streaming video, graphic design, public speaking and working in collaborative groups.
