NASEF Scholastic Mentor
I am a mathematics teacher who has a passion for all things gaming. I have an amazing family that I love to play games with, and my weekends will often find me playing board games with them. I have started gaming clubs, Esports teams, board game clubs, and hosted a middle school Esports invitational tournament. I enjoy woodworking and playing Magic the Gathering in my spare time.
What are your strengths and unique aspirations as a NASEF Scholastic Mentor?
I have a lot of experience with technology, and I feel that I would be very well suited towards Esports guidance during a distance learning and COVID environment. I think that I would also be very capable of supporting fellows at a distance. I also produced a very robust curriculum module during my own time as a fellow, and that program could probably be adapted to meet the needs of students in a distance environment.
What do you hope to accomplish for your professional development by becoming a Scholastic Mentor?
I would like to see my own role as an esports leader within the region grow. I would also like to develop the tools needed to help guide new programs as they are developing their esports classes and even their competitive scene.
