My name is Ivet Gonzalez and I am thrilled to have the opportunity to be a mentor and collaborate with other NASEF scholastic fellows. I began my professional journey at Cal State Fullerton and graduated with a Bachelors in Liberal Studies and a minor in Computer Science. I then continued my teaching credential and Masters in Teaching at Chapman University. Immediately completing my student teaching, I began my teaching career at El Sol Academy. I have been an educator at El Sol for a total of 17 years and currently I am a TOSA as a STEAM Coordinator. I am an innovative and energetic teacher who is always looking for opportunities to support student's interest and learning.

What are your strengths and unique aspirations as a NASEF Scholastic Mentor?

Through my professional experiences I have been able to work on many skills that I can now present as strengths. First, I am a quick learner who is always willing to take on a challenge. I am resourceful and always look for ways to get answers to my inquiries. I have a passion for making a difference in my community and I believe that being a NASEF Scholastic Mentor will provide me more opportunities to reach other communities. One of my unique aspirations is to continue to grow with NASEF internationally unite my community with communities in Mexico.

What do you hope to accomplish for your professional development by becoming a Scholastic Mentor?

I want to grow in the space of Scholastic Esports. I believe it is a crucial time now more than ever to be on the front lines of supporting students with scholastic esports and I want to grow and learn as much as possible to support my community of learners. I want to learn from experts and people who began just like me with limited experience in esports. I consider myself a long life learner and the more opportunities I provide myself to collaborate with others, the more professional development I will receive. I am an advocate for esports and learning, therefore being a mentor will provide me platform to continue to learn and grow.
