Mary Phillips
Fellow

I am an elementary STEM teacher for South Haven Public Schools. Outside of school, I have a wide variety of interests. I am a third generation amateur radio operator. I love to sew, turn wood, shoot wildlife photography, garden, and cook. On our farm in Watervliet, MI, we raise ducks, maintain a prairie habitat restoration, and make maple syrup. As a teacher, I love joining my students on our learning adventures and reminding them of their strengths and talents.
Why did you become a NASEF Scholastic Fellow?
I chose to become a NASEF Scholastic Fellow because I want to bring the conversation about healthy gaming to my elementary students. I also hope to inspire fellow teachers to bring game-based learning into their classrooms.
What is your favorite game?
Unstable Unicorns. My favorite contemporary video game is Yoshi’s Crafted World, although Link’s Awakening will always hold a place in my heart.
