Alexander Gibson
NASEF Scholastic Mentor

What are your strengths and unique aspirations as a NASEF Scholastic Mentor?
In my current 2020-2021 school year I was allowed to build my own elective, Exploration of Game Design. And in the next school year, I am also being allowed to expand on the course electives to teach Exploration of Game Design II. This course will allow me to finish all of the curriculum and projects I built or used, and add more content for student gaming and learning. I would like to use the NASEF Scholastic Mentor program to help support this endeavor, as well as continue learning from the great NASEF Scholastic Fellow Group.
What do you hope to accomplish for your professional development by becoming a Scholastic Mentor?
I would like to become a NASEF Scholastic Mentor to continue the work I have begun this past school year. I want to help lead the change in classrooms both during and after-school time. Students need more options in learning and being educators to help drive the change in the classroom. I would like to support the NASEF Fellows build more curriculum content, and help my local PSEL Affiliation build their efficacy, as well as support any teacher looking
to get into esports. Using this would help build my leadership role as an esports enthusiast and allow me to research more new curriculum ideas for my own classroom.
